About Keownology

Keownology was founded by Grant Keown, an IT professional with over 15 years of experience in system administration and network engineering. Based in Stellenbosch, South Africa, I specialise in network and internet administration, technical support, and responsive web design. I believe technology should remove friction from everyday work, not add to it. My priority is always to deliver practical, secure and reliable solutions that make life easier for users and teams.

My career has taken me through a wide range of environments — from small businesses to larger operations — where I’ve designed secure networks, implemented backup and recovery strategies, managed servers and supported end users across diverse platforms. Those experiences taught me to think ahead: to design systems that are robust today and scalable for tomorrow. I combine a troubleshooting mindset with systems-level thinking so issues are resolved quickly and recurring problems are prevented.

I’m continually expanding my formal qualifications to complement my practical knowledge. Alongside technical work, I’m building an IT solutions company that focuses on customised, client-first technology services. Whether the task is migrating services to the cloud, tightening security posture, or building a responsive website, my goal is to provide solutions that fit the business — not the other way around.

Outside of IT, I’m passionate about training dogs and their handlers. That interest has sharpened my patience, communication and coaching skills — qualities I bring to client relationships and team projects. I treat every client engagement like a training plan: assess the needs, set clear goals, communicate regularly, and iterate until the outcome is reliable and repeatable.
